Glitz, glamour as Oke-Ovoro Ezuo hosts Easter reception to honour members

Ihedioha, Akagburuonye extol group’s achievements

It was a day of splendour, celebration and communal pride as the Oke-Ovoro Ezuo Peoples Assembly, the pan-sociocultural organisation of Oke-Ovoro clan in Aboh Mbaise LGA of Imo State, hosted a special Easter reception to honour members recently elevated to notable positions of authority.

The event, held on Easter Sunday at the Oke-Ovoro Ezuo Secretariat, Orie Uvuru, attracted a distinguished gathering of political leaders, influential stakeholders, and eminent sons and daughters of Oke-Ovoro. It served as a platform to celebrate excellence, resilience and the outstanding achievements of members who have made significant strides in their respective fields.

Beyond the festivities, the occasion also offered a moment of reflection on the Assembly’s leadership, impact and growing legacy within a short period of its existence. It was a time for the community to pause and recognise individuals whose dedication and commitment have elevated the collective image of Oke-Ovoro.

The ceremony commenced at about 1pm with a colourful display marked by warmth and anticipation. In his welcome address, the President of the Assembly, Chief Fan Nduboke, expressed satisfaction with the group’s progress, highlighting key milestones and achievements recorded so far. He noted that the executive committee under his leadership has continued to galvanise members towards unity, growth and sustainable development through effective coordination.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, AIG Dr Charles Ugomuoh (Rtd), also commended members for their unwavering commitment and contributions, urging them to sustain the tempo of progress and collective vision.

In his remarks, former Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, applauded the Assembly for its dedication to development, noting that its initiatives have had a positive impact on the Oke-Ovoro clan.

Also speaking, the host of the event, Chief Barr. Success Akagburuonye (Akarugo Ndigbo), expressed delight at the group’s achievements and reaffirmed his commitment to its growth. He was particularly praised for sponsoring the construction of the perimeter fencing of the Secretariat and supporting the development of the Assembly’s permanent site.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of awards and recognitions to distinguished members who have recently attained positions of authority. Among the honourees were HRH Eze Prof. Ikenna Emeh, recognised for his coronation as the traditional ruler of Mbutu; HRH Eze Hon. Tony Emeh, for his emergence as the traditional ruler of Mbutu Nworie community; CSP Nwiwu, on her appointment as Divisional Police Officer in charge of Uvuru Police Division; and other notable awardees.

The ambience of the venue added to the glamour of the occasion, with elegant decorations in red and white hues creating a festive atmosphere. Guests were treated to a variety of sumptuous meals and quality drinks, courtesy of Chief Akagburuonye.
