At last, Uzodimma mandates LG chairmen to hand over to directors of administration before end of Monday, October 5

Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has directed former Local Government Chairmen whose tenures recently expired to hand over all government property in their possession to the Directors of Administration in their respective local government areas.
The governor directed that all handover and takeover formalities must be concluded on or before the close of work on Monday, October 5, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the Secretary to the Government of Imo State, Chief Cosmas Iwu, the directive followed the expiration of the tenures of the Local Government Chairmen and Councillors across the state’s 27 local government areas.
The statement said Governor Uzodimma approved that the erstwhile Chairmen hand over all government property under their care to the Directors of Administration in their respective local government areas.
Meanwhile, the governor has given approval to former officials who are interested in contesting the next local government elections to indicate their interest, provided they fulfil all requirements stipulated by the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission.
Governor Uzodimma, on behalf of the Imo State Government and the people of the state, expressed deep appreciation to all the former Chairmen and Councillors for their services to the state.
