APP promises better life, inclusive government for Imo people if elected
-Urges INEC to ensure credible polls, correct past shortcomings

The Action People’s Party (APP) in Imo State has reaffirmed its commitment to providing a better life and an inclusive government for the people of the state if it wins the 2027 general election.
The party made the pledge during a press briefing held at its state secretariat along Ugwu Orji–Okigwe Road, Owerri, where members of the state executive outlined the party’s vision and preparations for the forthcoming elections.
Addressing journalists, the Imo State Chairman of the APP, Hon. Ernest Njesi, described the party as one established to serve the interests of ordinary citizens. He said the APP was determined to rescue the state from what he described as years of hardship, poverty and hopelessness.
According to him, the party is committed to restoring the state’s fortunes through transparent leadership, accountability and the promotion of internal democracy.
Njesi said an APP-led government would revitalise key sectors of the economy, including education, healthcare and agriculture, which he alleged had suffered years of neglect.
He maintained that the party has the capacity to transform the state’s economy and expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of the current administration under Governor Hope Uzodimma.
According to the APP chairman, while infrastructure development remains important, the government should also prioritise economic growth, job creation and improved security. He expressed concern over the security situation in the state, alleging that the present administration had not done enough to address the challenge despite the resources committed to the sector.
Njesi also called on security agencies to remain professional and impartial during the 2027 general election. He urged law enforcement officers, particularly the police, not to allow themselves to be influenced by politicians seeking electoral advantage.
He stated that the APP was fully prepared for the elections and had already commenced grassroots mobilisation across the state.
The party chairman further alleged that APP members had faced threats and intimidation from political opponents, particularly members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), but insisted that such challenges would not discourage the party from pursuing its political objectives.
He disclosed that the party would soon begin its statewide campaign to engage more residents and present its programmes to the electorate.
On the conduct of the elections, the APP leadership urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that the 2027 general election is free, fair and credible.
Njesi called on the electoral body to learn from what he described as shortcomings in previous elections and to provide a level playing field for all political parties.
He expressed confidence that the APP would perform strongly at the polls, describing the party’s candidates as men and women of integrity, some of whom, he said, currently serve in the National Assembly.
The APP chairman appealed to Imo residents to support the party and its candidates in the 2027 elections, assuring them that an APP administration would fulfil its campaign promises and deliver people-oriented governance.
He also said youth and women empowerment would be among the party’s top priorities, stressing that creating opportunities for young people and women would help reduce unemployment, alleviate hardship and stimulate economic development.
According to him, many young people in the state have continued to suffer due to a lack of employment opportunities and an enabling environment for productivity.
He urged voters to make informed choices during the forthcoming elections, insisting that the APP is prepared to provide purposeful leadership and improve the lives of the people of Imo State.

Wisdom Echefu; Legal Adviser, Barr. Uchenna Nwosu; Assistant Financial Secretary, Mr. Eddy Nwosu; and Assistant Youth Leader, Chief Chinenye Ezuruike.
