Democracy Day: Deputy Speaker Iwuanyanwu commends Uzodimma’s democratic leadership, development strides
The Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu, has applauded Governor Hope Uzodimma for his unwavering commitment to democratic principles, inclusive governance, and sustainable development in Imo State.
Speaking at the 2026 Democracy Day Luncheon held at Government House, Owerri, Rt. Hon. Iwuanyanwu highlighted the remarkable gains of democracy in Nigeria and Imo State, noting that democratic governance remains the foundation for accountability, good governance, development, and active citizen participation.
According to the Deputy Speaker, democracy has continued to provide the framework through which governments remain accountable to the people while fostering progress and stability in society.
He commended the administration of Governor Uzodimma for translating the ideals of democracy into tangible benefits for the people through visionary leadership, strategic policies, and people-oriented programmes.
Iwuanyanwu noted that the governor’s commitment to inclusive governance has ensured that the dividends of democracy are not merely theoretical but are visible and felt in communities across Imo State through various developmental projects and initiatives.
He stated that the achievements recorded by the Uzodimma administration reflect a government determined to improve the welfare of the people while promoting peace, unity, and progress across the state.
The Deputy Speaker further reaffirmed the commitment of the Imo State House of Assembly to supporting policies and initiatives that advance sustainable development, strengthen democratic institutions, and improve the living conditions of citizens.
He also urged residents of the state to remain steadfast in upholding democratic values and actively participate in the democratic process for the collective advancement of Imo State and Nigeria.
The Democracy Day Luncheon attracted top government officials, political leaders, stakeholders, and other distinguished guests who gathered to celebrate Nigeria’s democratic journey and reflect on the progress achieved over the years.
The event provided an opportunity to acknowledge the gains of democracy while reinforcing the commitment of leaders and citizens to the continued development and prosperity of Imo State.
