The National Vice Chairman (South East) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, has scored the administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma very high in delivering democratic dividends to the good people of Imo State in line with the Manifesto of the All Progressive Congress.
Arodiogbu said the administration had recorded significant interventions in infrastructure, workers’ welfare, healthcare, land administration, power generation, revenue mobilisation and economic development.
Speaking on the performance of the administration, the APC chieftain said Governor Uzodimma had demonstrated what he described as a deliberate commitment to transforming the state and improving the welfare of its citizens.
“Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administration has recorded visible interventions across critical sectors of the Imo economy. From roads and healthcare to workers’ welfare, land administration and economic development, the impact of government policies can be seen in different parts of the state,” Arodiogbu said.
The APC leader commended the state’s approval of a ₦104,000 minimum wage, describing the measure as an important intervention in workers’ welfare. He commended the introduction of an automated salary payment system, which he said had modernised the process of salary administration and improved efficiency.
He said the policy demonstrated the government’s willingness to prioritise the welfare of its workforce amid the rising cost of living while the regular payment of full salaries and pensions has provided greater financial security for workers and pensioners in the state.
Arodiogbu also described the successful performance of the first robotic surgery in Imo State as a significant milestone in the state’s healthcare development.
“The introduction of advanced medical technology is a major development for healthcare in Imo. It shows that the state is gradually positioning itself to provide specialised medical services that previously required patients to travel outside the state or country,” he said.
He also highlighted the government’s healthcare interventions, particularly the provision of health insurance coverage for civil servants, elderly citizens and other residents, describing access to affordable healthcare as an important component of social development.
On infrastructure, the APC leader said the administration had invested in the construction and rehabilitation of facilities, including healthcare centres and major tourism and hospitality infrastructure such as Concorde Hotel.
Arodiogbu further cited the automation of land administration as a major institutional reform, saying the system has brought greater efficiency, order and transparency to land transactions.
Arodiogbu described the political environment in Imo State under the present administration as stable, while commending efforts toward promoting an equitable political succession arrangement through the Charter of Equity.
“A stable political environment is essential for sustainable development. The Charter of Equity is also important because it promotes a sense of fairness, inclusion and political understanding among the various interests in the state,” he said.
The APC South-East Vice Chairman also praised Governor Uzodimma for maintaining what he described as a strong and harmonious relationship with the Federal Government, saying such cooperation has enhanced opportunities for federal-state collaboration and development.
Arodiogbu listed the Orashi Power Plant, describing it as a strategic investment capable of contributing to the state’s power supply and economic development, the deployment of balloon technology for erosion control, which he said has contributed to efforts to address erosion challenges in several communities and the increase in internally generated revenue, describing it as an indication of improved revenue administration and a broader economic base, thereby placing the state among Nigeria’s leading economies.
He maintained that the overall assessment of any government should ultimately be based on the extent to which its policies improve the lives of citizens.
“Governance is about impact. Roads, healthcare, workers’ welfare, economic growth, power, institutional reforms and equitable development all contribute to the quality of life of the people. While there is always more work to be done, the people of Imo can point to several interventions under Governor Uzodimma,” Arodiogbu stated.
He urged the people of Imo State to continue to support development-oriented policies while calling on the state government to sustain and expand its interventions across all sectors.
