2027 Polls: Imo PDP Chair, Jonjude, Gives Hope to Aspirants

- Urges those who bought forms through unauthorized channels to approach party leadership for regularisation

The Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), under the leadership of its Caretaker Committee Chairman, Ikenga Jonjude Okere, held a strategic meeting in Owerri, where key resolutions were reached to strengthen unity and inclusiveness within the party.

Top on the agenda was the decision to regularize aspirants who were misled into purchasing expression of interest and nomination forms through unauthorized channels. The Caretaker Committee noted that the move is in line with the party’s core belief that the PDP is One Family; One PDP irrespective of political alignments.

Addressing stakeholders, Ikenga Jonjude appreciated members for their resilience, loyalty, and unwavering belief in the leadership of the party at the national level, led by Dr. Taminu Turaki, SAN. He emphasized that unity and reconciliation remain central to the party’s rebuilding process.

He also informed members that the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms for the 2027 general elections is ongoing, urging all aspirants to engage only with the legitimate leadership and approved structures of the party.

In his remarks, Ikenga Jonjude stated, “Our party remains one family. As such, we have resolved to extend an olive branch to those who were misled into purchasing forms from illegal channels. This opportunity for regularization will be available to those who are first to approach the leadership of the party for the sake of running under the PDP platform”

He further assured that under his leadership, the Imo PDP is committed to accommodating all genuine members as efforts continue to reposition the party for victory and effective governance in the state.

A major highlight of the meeting was the official commencement of the sale of forms, as Hon. Chris Odoemenam purchased his expression of interest and nomination forms to contest the Okigwe South Federal
Constituency seat in 2027.

Meanwhile, another aspirant from Aboh Mbaise also purchased his expression of interest and nomination forms to contest the Aboh Mbaise State Constituency seat in the Imo State House of Assembly.

The meeting was widely attended by members of the State Caretaker Committee and Local Government Chairmen from all 27 Local Government Areas, reflecting renewed unity and a shared commitment to the progress of the party.
