Ikenga’s Operation Light Up Ideato extends to Ogwume, Dikenafai, Akpulu

The Operation Light Up Ideato initiative championed by Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere has entered another major phase, with the ongoing installation of 500KVA transformers and associated electricity infrastructure in Ogwume, Dikenafai and Akpulu, bringing the number of communities reached by the initiative to seven.

The latest phase of the intervention is seeing the installation of transformers, electricity cables and other essential electrical components as efforts continue to strengthen power supply and improve access to electricity across communities in Ideato North and South.

With the completion of the transformer installation in Akpulu and ongoing work in Ogwume and Dikenafai, the initiative has now delivered transformers to seven communities, building on previous installations in Umuopia, Obodoukwu, Abukwa and Umukegwu.

The expansion of the project underscores the commitment of Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere to addressing critical infrastructure needs at the grassroots and ensuring that communities that have long experienced inadequate electricity infrastructure are not left behind.

Unlike a one off intervention, Operation Light Up Ideato is being implemented as a continuing community focused programme, with more transformers expected to be supplied and installed in additional communities identified as being in need.

Speaking on the continuing expansion of the initiative, Ikenga reaffirmed his determination that the programme must reach every community in Ideato that requires electricity infrastructure, stressing that the objective is to progressively close the gap in power availability across the constituency.

“Operation Light Up Ideato will continue until communities in need are reached.

“One community at a time. One transformer at a time”, he stated.
