Chima Amadi to Ngwoma Obube, Orji Uratta women: Look beyond political affiliations in 2027 election
— Urges voters to make choices based on the quality of leadership Imo people desire
The Imo East Senatorial Candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Dr Chima Matthew Amadi, has urged the people of Owerri Zone to look beyond political affiliations and sentiments in making their choices in the 2027 general elections.
Amadi made the call during his engagements with women at their August meetings in Ngwoma Obube and Orji Uratta, where he stressed that the quality of leadership offered by those seeking public office should remain a major consideration for voters.
Addressing the women, the APP senatorial candidate said the consequences of bad governance affect everyone, irrespective of political party, community or social status, insisting that the electorate must use their votes wisely to enthrone purposeful and people-oriented leadership.
According to him, the time has come for the people to critically assess the character, capacity, antecedents and commitment of candidates rather than allowing political affiliations to determine their choices.
“Bad governance does not recognise political boundaries. When we make the wrong choices, the consequences affect all of us. We must therefore use our votes wisely and demand leaders who will truly serve the people,” Amadi said.
He maintained that his aspiration to represent Imo East Senatorial District, otherwise known as Owerri Zone, is anchored on service and the desire to give the people effective representation capable of addressing their challenges and improving their living conditions.
Amadi reiterated his campaign position that the people must be at the centre of governance, stressing that political leadership should translate into tangible improvements in healthcare, education, infrastructure, employment opportunities and the general wellbeing of citizens.
He further restated his concern over the growing economic difficulties confronting families, maintaining that the poor cannot continue to remain poor while opportunities and resources meant to improve their lives remain beyond their reach.
The APP candidate assured the people of Owerri Zone that, if elected to the Senate in 2027, he would pursue quality representation that would give the zone a strong voice at the national level while attracting programmes, opportunities and interventions capable of positively impacting communities.
He also pledged to remain accessible to the people, noting that representation should not end with elections but should involve constant engagement with constituents to understand their needs and ensure that their concerns are brought to the appropriate quarters.
Amadi said his vision is to promote a form of leadership built around service, accountability and compassion, with particular attention to women, youths and vulnerable members of society.
As part of his support for grassroots development, Amadi announced a combined donation of ₦5 million to support community projects being undertaken by the women of Ngwoma Obube and Orji Uratta.
He described the intervention as part of his commitment to standing with communities in their efforts to improve their living conditions.
Amadi commended the women for using the annual August Meeting to promote unity and mobilise resources for community development, describing women as critical stakeholders in the social and economic advancement of their communities.
He urged them to continue playing active roles in shaping the political future of Owerri Zone by scrutinising those seeking their votes and supporting candidates they believe possess the competence, integrity and commitment required to serve the people.
The Ngwoma Obube and Orji Uratta engagements form part of Amadi’s ongoing grassroots consultations and August Meeting visits across communities in Owerri Zone ahead of the 2027 general elections.
