Uzodimma’s 3 Int. awards filled with leadership lessons, says Egemba

The recent conferment of three prestigious international honours on His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, CON,
from the South Carolina House of Representatives in the USA, the United Kingdom House of Lords, and the African Leadership Organisation in London have been described as more than ceremonial.
Speaking in Owerri, Imo State Commissioner for Industry, Mines and Solid Minerals, Hon. Jerry Egemba, said the awards are loaded with leadership lessons for public officers and citizens alike.
as the award continues
to generate conversations across Imo State, he noted that the world does not honour people for sitting in office. It honours people for results that touch lives.
_“These awards are filled with leadership lessons,”_ Hon. Egemba said. _“The first lesson is that purposeful governance gets noticed. When you fix roads, when you reopen hospitals, when you restore security, people outside your state will see it and speak about it.”_
According to him, the second lesson is about consistency. For three different institutions across America, Europe and Africa to recognize one governor within the same period shows that leadership must be deliberate and sustained. _“You cannot do good work today and abandon it tomorrow and expect applause. The governor has shown consistency,”_ he added.
From the perspective of his ministry, Hon. Egemba said another lesson is about creating an enabling environment. For years, investors stayed away from Imo because of uncertainty. Today, the narrative is changing. _“The governor told us to make Imo open for business. That directive is why we are now engaging investors in numerous solid minerals in the state,”_ he explained.
The Commissioner also pointed to the lesson of humility and focus in leadership, saying; despite the global recognition, the governor has continued to insist that the work is not finished. _“That tells us that honours should not make you relax. They should make you work harder,”_ Egemba noted.
Another key takeaway, he said, is the power of teamwork. _his views “no governor succeeds alone. These awards are also for the cabinet, for civil servants, and for Imo people who have supported the 3R agenda. Leadership is collective,”_ he stated.
Hon. Egemba stressed that the awards also teach a lesson about restoring pride. His words ‘for a long time, Imo was in the news for the wrong reasons. Today, the state is being mentioned for development and good governance. _“Our youths abroad, our diaspora, they are proud to say they are from Imo again. That psychological boost matters,”.
On the economic front, Commissioner Egemba explained that the honours carry a lesson for investment. _“When international bodies honour your leader, investors take your state seriously. For Industry and Mines, that means more factories, more jobs, and more revenue for our people,”_ the Commissioner said.
He however warned against complacency. _“The lesson here is not for his footsoldiers to celebrate and sleep. The lesson is to convert this goodwill into tangible outcomes by helping him in our little position to march activity with productivity, that is how we can further contribute and consolidate the well deserved awards ,”_ he emphasized.
Calling on Imo youths, Hon. Egemba said the final lesson is about preparation. _“Opportunities are coming. But you must mentorship, have vibrant skills. Government will provide the environment, but you must be ready to take advantage of it,”_ he urged.
In conclusion, the Commissioner congratulated the governor on behalf of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Solid Minerals stating that Uzodinma’s awards are a masterclass in leadership. “Let us all learn from them and commit to building an Imo that works for everyone. Together, Imo Rises,”_ he said.
