Nkwa Chi Kwere Foundation to shut down Owerri zone with another round of strategic empowerment

Nkwa Chi Kwere Community Development Foundation has disclosed that it will soon embark on another strategic mega economic empowerment programme in Owerri Zone, in line with its vision of creating and supporting sustainable and inclusive economic activities at the grassroots, strengthening household income generation capacity, and promoting community development.
The humanitarian foundation stated that the upcoming project, which has already received the blessing of its Chief Convener, High Chief Dr. Chijioke Kaduru, and his management team, will accommodate beneficiaries from communities and wards across all nine local government areas of Owerri Zone. It further noted that the empowerment drive will add a broader dimension to the foundation’s continuous economic empowerment initiatives, which have been ongoing for several years.
According to the Director General of the foundation, Hon. Chukwuma Anuforo, who disclosed the information during a brief chat with reporters in Owerri, Nkwa Chi Kwere Foundation has successfully executed several strategic economic empowerment programmes in the past, including the Obiangwu Community Empowerment, the Ngor Okpala LGA Empowerment Programme, and the Mbaise Nation Mega Empowerment held on September 27, 2025.
He highlighted that over a thousand beneficiaries went home smiling from those exercises, having received economic tools such as Keke buses, motorcycles, grinders, generators, freezers, sewing machines, agricultural inputs, POS machines with start-up capital, and financial grants.
He noted that, in addition to the vision of creating and supporting the growth of small businesses through the distribution of empowerment tools and financial grants, the foundation has also been using the platform to support the good governance efforts of the Imo State Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma.
Hon. Anuforo stated that his principal firmly believes that government cannot do it all alone, hence the decision to use the private philanthropy platform to complement and support the government’s development initiatives.
He assured that the foundation remains committed to conducting an effective exercise that aligns with the principles of transparency and inclusion, adding that every gender, community, ward, and local government area in the zone will enjoy equal opportunities during the upcoming programme.
When asked why his principal remains committed to the empowerment project despite not securing the APC ticket for the Imo East Senatorial Election, a situation that has often led many political office seekers to abandon people-oriented initiatives after losing party nominations, Hon. Anuforo clarified that his principal strongly believes that humanity comes before politics.
According to him, this simply means that his principal sees politics and public office as avenues for deepening the foundation’s vision of touching lives and improving society positively, rather than as opportunities for self-aggrandizement.
Hon. Anuforo made it abundantly clear that regardless of developments in the political arena, High Chief Dr. Chijioke Kaduru will always remain committed, dedicated, and passionate about his compassionate vision and leadership of empowering people and communities for individual and collective well-being, development, and progress.
