My Support for Peter Obi Remains Unwavering — Emeka Ihedioha

Former Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, has reaffirmed his steadfast loyalty to Peter Obi, dismissing claims that he is working against the former Anambra governor in favour of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Ihedioha’s clarification follows a recent media report which alleged that the former governor had aligned with political forces opposed to Obi’s interest. Reacting to the claim, aides to the former governor described the report as “false, misleading and a deliberate attempt to misinform the public.”

In a statement made available to journalists by his media aides, it was stressed that Ihedioha’s political position has not changed, noting that he remains committed to the ideals and vision he shares with Obi.

According to the aides, “His unwavering support for His Excellency, Peter Obi, remains steadfast. At no time has he worked, nor is he working, against him for any political interest whatsoever.”

They further recalled how Ihedioha had, in the past, urged Igbo people to register en masse for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as a demonstration of their collective support for Obi, describing the move as part of efforts to boost political participation and strengthen the region’s electoral influence.

The aides urged members of the public, especially supporters and political associates, to disregard what they termed “baseless propaganda,” noting that such narratives are often orchestrated to create confusion and disunity among like-minded stakeholders.

They also emphasized the need for political actors to uphold truth and integrity in their engagements, warning against the spread of unverified reports capable of undermining trust and cohesion within political circles.

Reaffirming Ihedioha’s commitment to progressive politics and good governance, the aides maintained that his support for Obi is rooted in shared values aimed at repositioning Nigeria for sustainable development.

Political observers say the development underscores the ongoing realignments ahead of future electoral contests, particularly within opposition ranks, where loyalty and alliances continue to shape the political landscape.
