Arne Slot offered a positive update on the fitness of Florian Wirtz during this morning’s press conference.
Edge Express Newspaper gathered that the German playmaker, who joined Liverpool from Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the summer of 2025, had been sidelined after sustaining a back injury but is now making steady progress in his rehabilitation.

Wirtz was withdrawn as a precaution during Liverpool’s 5–2 victory over West Ham United F.C. on March 1, 2026. The 22-year-old has since missed three matches, prompting concerns over his availability ahead of the club’s upcoming fixtures against Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C..
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Slot confirmed that the midfielder has already taken a significant step forward in his recovery process.
“He trained half and half with the team yesterday,” Slot said, noting that the player has made further progress in his rehabilitation. The manager added that the club will monitor Wirtz’s condition to determine whether he could be available for the next match.

Wirtz has been a vital creative force for Liverpool this season, registering 12 goals and 15 assists in 28 appearances. His possible return would provide a timely boost for the Reds as they aim to maintain their momentum in the league.
