2027 Imo East: Ngor Okpala have legitimate claim to the Senate seat, says Ndukwu

Convener of the *2027 Ngor Okpala Project* and Media strategist, Sir Sunny Ndukwu has said that the people of Ngor Okpala LGA in Imo East (Owerri Zone) Senatorial district have the most legitimate claim to the Senate seat come 2027.
Ndukwu, a media strategist and critical leader in the area, disclosed this on Wednesday at Naze, Owerri North LGA, during a strategic meeting with some leaders from the zone.
He contended that Ngor Okpala is the only political bloc in the senatorial zone yet to have a shot at the red chamber in a democratic dispensation.
He said: “Ngor Okpala LGA is critical in the Imo project.
“Our role in the Imo project for decades should be imbibed by our brothers from other LGAs in the zone as a model for addressing inclusivity and equity as regards rotational arrangement for public offices.
He, however, said he would support whosoever from the area that emerge as a senatorial candidate ahead of the 2027 general election irrespective of the political platform.
While commending those who are already nursing ambition to vye for senate from the area, he seized the opportunity to call on his people to take advantage of the senatorial project and work towards actualising it.
Fielding questions from newsmen regarding politicians from the area who are already coordinating governorship hopefuls in their various capacities, Ndukwu disclosed “Most of our politicians in Ngor Okpala are globally known as political contractors. They prefer working for aspirants from other LGAs as against their own brothers, we are aware of their selfish activities but at the appropriate time, such characters shall be addressed.
Responding to the governorship aspiration of Dr Matthew Amadi, Ndukwu disclosed “The search for the successor of Dist Senator Hope Uzodinma come 2027 is an Imo agenda. Don’t forget that the people of Okigwe and some political contractors from Orlu are also laying claim to the succession arrangement even while we aware that the APC sponsored “Imo Charter Of Equity during the Imo 2023 Off cycle governorship electioneering campaign gives Owerri zone an edge over others.
At the moment, our interest is to secure the senate ticket, and it is politically correct that for the governorship position, the incumbent governor have a prominent role to decide which zone succeeds him, and if eventually an Ngor Okpala son is considered, then that would shape our political ideology as regards 2027, but in the meantime, our eyes is on the ball and am very optimistic we shall get it right this time, he noted.
