Alleged 50-years marginalisation: Ngor Okpala youths back Kaduru for Owerri Zone Senate

Seek Uzodimma's support

Youths of Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State have endorsed the senatorial ambition of High Chief Chijioke Kaduru for the 2027 Owerri Zone Senate seat, calling on Governor Hope Uzodimma to support his emergence as the APC candidate.

The youths, at their recent quarterly meeting, appealed to the governor to use the 2027 election to address what they described as nearly five decades of political exclusion of Ngor Okpala in the affairs of Owerri Zone.

The endorsement and appeal were contained in a resolution signed by hundreds of youths and presented to the governor through the State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Rt Hon Goodluck Opiah, during a visit to Kaduru’s residence in Obiangwu, Ngor Okpala LGA. The document was submitted by the youths’ spokesman, Comrade Okechukwu Nzewuike.

Explaining their decision, the group cited what they termed the historical marginalisation of Ngor Okpala in Owerri Zone politics, noting that since the Second Republic began in 1979, no indigene of the council has represented the zone in the Senate. They claimed that other blocs within the zone have occupied the seat multiple times, while Ngor Okpala has remained excluded.

While expressing dissatisfaction over the situation, the youths said their endorsement of Kaduru was primarily based on what they described as his competence, professional achievements, and philanthropic track record.

They highlighted his experience as a public health expert with years of collaboration with international organisations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Bank, as well as his involvement in implementing large-scale health programmes across African countries. According to them, his company, Corona Management Systems (CMS), has established a presence in several African nations.

The group also referenced initiatives they attributed to him, including the Owerri Zone Mega Empowerment Initiative and the construction of a Primary Healthcare Centre in Obiangwu.

The youths further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uzodimma for what they described as inclusive governance, pointing to the establishment of the South East Development Commission and infrastructural projects in Ngor Okpala as positive steps.

They pledged their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections and urged the governor to consider their appeal by backing Kaduru’s bid for the Senate.

In his remarks, Rt Hon Goodluck Opiah acknowledged receipt of the resolution and thanked the host for the reception extended to him and members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors during their tour of local government areas.
