APC revalidation exercise records low turnout in Imo

The ongoing registration and revalidation exercise of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Imo State, according to our investigation is recording an unimpressive low turn-out across the 27 local governments in Imo State.
According to our reporters who monitored the exercise, the ongoing political battle between the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume
and Senator Rochas Okorocha could be one of the reasons why even members of the ruling party are unwilling to revalidate their membership.
It was gathered that most of the polling booths and registration centers were deserted. Party officials who were given targets of the number of members to be registered at the various pooling booths have now adopted Jehovah’s witnesses’ house to house approach as the only means to reach their targets.
The officials who are left with no option now beg people from door to door to come and register or revalidate their membership.
Informed sources told our reporter that unlike in the past when members were sensitized on the need for them to participate in the exercise, the acrimony between the rival factions within the party has made it impossible for members to work together.
It was gathered that while the CampHope faithful practically hijacked the materials and want only people in their camp to register or revalidate their membership, they tend to hoard information to the Coalition and Okorocha factions, with the government of the day not releasing fund for those entrusted with the conduct of the exercise.
Analysts believe that this is a litmus test for the governor, who as the leader of the party in South East is expected to hit the target given by the APC national leadership.

This according to unconfirmed sources will most like determine the fate of the South East in producing a President of SouthEast extraction come 2023.
The governor who is known for his doggedness, never-give-up attitude, and ‘Johnbenson way’ of achieving results, would not allow the party structure in the South East under his tutelage not to record huge success in the ongoing registration and revalidation.
More so, the governor in his drive to meet the target may likely mandate the civil servants and their family members to register.
If the governor fails to deliver, his capability as the APC party leader in the southeast would be in doubt as Okorocha and Araraume’s camps who are waiting for his downfall would make a mockery of his leadership deficiencies.
