Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has said that government is committed to improving infrastructure, academic content and research for Abia State University.
The governor who made the promise when leadership of the University paid him a courtesy visit also promised to create internet packs for Abia youths to enable them access free internet service in addition to paying ten thousand nairas per student out of twenty-five thousand nairas of the state levy.
Besides, he said that the state government will assemble more than fifty youths with business proposals to enable them to benefit from the state seed money which is between two hundred and fifty thousand nairas and seven hundred thousand.
He also promised in a few weeks to set up road maintenance committees in all the local governments to be supervised by the youth.
While urging them to observe all COVID-19 protocols on resumption promised that within 60 days that the government will provide regular water supply and conveniences in the university.
In a vote of thanks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Uche Ikonne thanked the governor for building confidence in the students and promised that the university will continue to support his government.
In the same vein, the governor donated a sienna bus to ABSUTH to ease movement of resident doctors in the hospital and to attend to emergencies.
While thanking them for their professionalism urged them to block all financial loopholes in the institutions.
