In a bid to actualize the dream of organising the first-ever International Conference on Migration, Human Trafficking and Social Empowerment of indigent persons in Imo State, the Hon. Commissioner in charge of the Ministry of Social Welfare and Sanitation, Dr Elias Martins Emedom has inaugurated sub-committees to ensure a smooth succession of the programme.
Dr Emedom while inaugurating the five (5) sub-committees charged them on teamwork in order to achieve the desired result.
The Honourable Commissioner in his inaugural speech informed members of the different sub-committees that by giving their best in the service of making the programme a huge success, they would have written their names on the sands of time in the development of Imo State in line with the shared prosperity administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma. He reminded them that there would be no room for excuses hence, they are not limited to the terms of reference given to them but to as well inject brighter ideas into the project to make it succeed.
In his opening remarks, chairman of the central committee, Chief (Engr) Eze Ossai expressed confidence on the crop of membership of the committees and reminded them that getting it right at the planning stage is the bedrock of getting it right at the final stage. Chief Eze Ossai described the sub-committees as the engine room of success of every programme and charged them to uphold the confidence reposed on them by the Hon. Commissioner in appointing them
In her remarks, the founder of Super joy International Foundation, an NGO partnering with the Ministry of Social Welfare And Sanitation to actualize the project, Mrs Joy Smart Unaegbu harped on the need to make the programme a success as posterity would ever remember every member of the committee.
In a vote of thanks, a member of the central working committee and chairman of the Secretariat Sub-Committee, Mr George Prince thanked the Hon. Commissioner and the management of Superjoy International Foundation for the opportunity given to them to contribute their quota in the development of Imo State, especially as it concerns touching the social lives of indigent persons in the state and assured them of their readiness to give their best in service.
The sub-committees were charged to submit their work to the central working committee.
It could be recalled that the central working committee was inaugurated a fortnight ago and the conference expected to take place between the end of November and early December this year at a venue to be determined by the committee.
