APGA members in Ohaji threaten to form parallel exco

Apga members

The members of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Ohaji in Ohaji /Egbema Local Government Area, lmo State last weekend sent out strong words to the leadership of the party at the State over what they termed marginalization, gross neglect and unequal distribution of positions between the two communities that made up the LGA.
They accused the John Iwuala led state executive of favouring APGA members of Egbema extraction while leaving Ohaji members in the cold.
They insisted that as far as the LGA is concerned, Egbema is in the minority having 5 wards while Ohaji has 7wards
The Ohaji APGA members who were represented by the leaders and stakeholders drawn from the 7wards of Ohaji unanimously resolved to form a parallel LGA executive and as well boycott any meeting that would be called by the present LGA executive if no drastic step is taken to right the wrongs meted to Ohaji APGA faithful.
Addressing the Representatives from the various wards in his country home, Umuokanne, the immediate past Ohaji/Egbema APGA LGA Chairman, Hon. Vincent Mary Ihejieto Oguzie bemoan the way members of APGA Ohaji has been sidelined in the day to day running of APGA affairs at the LGA despite their enormous contributions to the good of the party
He alleged that the state Exco imposed a non-card-carrying member of the party Mr Obinna Anaele, from Egbema on them as the LGA party chairman “this man was expelled from the party by the then State Chairman Bar Ezeobi due to anti-party activities. the Secretary also hails from Egbema”
The immediate past Chairman insisted that before now, there is a well-articulated, unanimous agreed to share formula and rules for various executive LGA party positions “for example, if Ohaji produces the Chairman, Egbema will produce the secretary, so it is with other positions in the party”
He accused the state leadership of ceeding all the positions except LGA youth leader to Egbema
“To add salt to injury, the only State Executive member, from the LGA, Lady Joy Nwabumere is also from Egbema’ he lamented
According to him, electoral statistics shows that Ohaji has something to bring to the table as far as elections are concerned “out of the 154 polling units in the LGA, Ohaji has 101 while Egbema has 53. In 2019Ohaji recorded 71,2097 registered voters while Egbema had 31,8031, registered voters. “
Therefore, he called on the leadership of the party at the State to look into their grievances, have a rethink and correct the ills being meted out to his people now, else they will form an interim APGA Ohaji LGA. “We have all it takes to have our own APGA executive in our locality, the State Exco is not being fair on my people”
Adding their voices, the LGA Youth leader, Hon Darlyton Ihueze maintained that APGA Ohaji has made several moves to show their grievances and the lopsidedness both to the Orlu Zonal chairman and to the State Executives, all to no avail, he opined that a house divided against itself can never stand.
Others who made their feelings known were the Youth Leader Ekwuato Ward, Henry Ejiogu, Ward Chairman Ohuba Nwarie Moses and Izunwanne Nwamadi from Mgbirichi Ekweato ward, who said politics is a game of numbers and teamwork not a clannish kind of meeting.
They boasted that a typical Ohaji man believes in Igbo ideology which is what APGA as a party stands for, hence Ohaji is intact for APGA.
