Governor’ SA on Diaspora poised to engage foreign partners in sports

The Special Adviser to the Governor of Imo State on Diaspora (Europe), Elder Aloysius Nnawugo has assured to use his current position to engage in foreign partners from Europe to ensure the development of sports in Imo State.
Nnawugo told the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Imo State Chapter when he plaid host in Owerri, that the measure would bring about effective training of sports managers in the state which would result in fishing out talented sportsmen and women in the state.
He recalled his duties as SA on Diaspora which principally hinges on liaising and attracting foreigners to the state for the purpose of developing the state, adding that in Imo State, a lot of things needs to be done which requires all hands to be on deck.
He equally assured to quickly convene a town hall meeting with President Generals of Okigwe, Orlu and Owerri zones living in Europe respectively with a view to discussing issues bordering on sports.
The Special Adviser pointed out that the measure when taken would go a long way to encourage the foreign sports partners to replicate their ideas in the state which according to him would give a boost to sports.
Hon. Nnawugo explained the great and enormous importance which sports attaches to the society and to people in the world pointing out that in the present society today; a lot of people built their carriers on sports by which they obtain degrees certificates to excel in life.
He said that sports could be used to attract wealth, finance and other values to the state, adding that when these avenues are harnessed, the state does not sponsor sports alone.
He commended the Sports Writers for their successful election and for their determination towards ensuring sports development and advised them to keep it on in order not to allow the spirit to die.
In his speech earlier, the chairman of SWAN in Imo State Chapter, Comrade Everest Ezihe congratulated the SA for his appointment, thanked the Governor also for granting such opportunity to Hon. Nnawugo to serve under his administration.
Ezihe recalled the purpose of their visit which is anchored on the principle of the partnership of the office of the SA on Diaspora for the purpose of achieving development and transformation in sports in the state.
