Edo guber: victory for democracy -Imo PDP

Obaseki

The People Democratic Party (PDP) Imo State has described the party’s triumph at the governorship election in Edo State as a parabolic victory for democracy.
Incumbent Gov. Obaseke of the PDP was on Saturday 19th September 2020 re-elected after defeating his closest rival, Ezekiel Ize-lyamu of the All Progressive Congress (APC) with a convincing margin.
Speaking to journalists on behalf of the party on Tuesday at the party’s Secretariat in Owerri, the Publicity Secretary Ogubundu Nwadike, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the polls.
According to him, people across the country are happy and even the presidency has expressed satisfaction and happiness with the outcome of the election.
Ogubundu, who said that the outcome shows that democracy still exists in Nigeria, also lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the good conduct of the election and opined that whatever made the Edo 2020 guber a huge success should be replicated in subsequent polls so that we would continue to have a free, fair and transparent election.
“We are happy and we are satisfied. We congratulate Edo people, we congratulate PDP and we congratulate Nigeria’s because it is a good one for both Edo people, Nigeria and PDP, “Ogubundu said.
On the fourth coming Okigwe Senate seat bye-election, the PDP spokesman fancied the party’s chances, saying that the party has a 90% chance of winning the election.
He noted that the process of selecting their candidate was smooth and hitch-free while that of the ruling party, which is still ongoing is characterized with fraud, protests and crisis, insisting that what played out in Edo State will repeat itself in Okigwe zone.
The PDP chieftain stated that Imo people deserve a better deal and maintained that the rebuild Imo Government of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha will step back into the office to continue its rebuilding.
