Imo monarch’s lawyer accuses Peace and Conflict Resolution Bureau of bias

A legal practitioner from the Palace of Justice Law Chambers in Owerri and the Lead Counsel to HRH Eze (Elder) Josiah Osuji, the Traditional Ruler of Obi Mbieri Autonomous Community in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State, Barr Ikechukwu Nwaopara has accused the Bureau of Peace and Conflict Resolution Imo State of been bias going by the way and manner they are handling the ongoing family problem between the said Monarch and his purported half brothers Mr Adolphus Osuji and Mr Ugochukwu Osuji with the view of making peace
Nwaopara while reacting to a publication by the Community Watchdog Newspaper against his client, credited to the Bureau, described the publication as provoking and derogatory wherein the bureau gave a very wrong, poor and uncomplimentary impression about Eze Osuji as a trouble maker and wicked man who is victimizing his purported half brothers by not allowing them to bury their late mother who died since February 2020.
Nwaopara alleged that the said purported half brothers Eze Osuji are yet to inform him that their mother is dead talk more of fixing her burial. “I do not understand how His Royal Highness will stop a burial he is not aware of or part of. I do not understand why the said Ugochukwu and Adolphus want to bury their mother in another person’s compound where they do not or intend to reside. I do not understand why the Bureau is interfering with the ongoing proceedings in the court on this same matters despite our letter to them dated 11th September 2020 notifying them of the pendency of the matter in suit No HMI/4612020. I do not understand why the Bureau has continued to write letters to His Royal Highness on this matters, paying unscheduled visits to His Royal Highness, making provoking newspaper publications against His Royal Highness on this matter, knowing fully well that the matter is ongoing in court”, Barr Nwaopara lamented.
Continuing, the legal practitioner said, “nobody could believe that the Bureau would write a letter to His Royal Highness summoning him to appear before them in their office at Orlu Road, Owerri not minding that the person involved is a Traditional Ruler and therefore ought to have visited him in His Palace, If it is in Benin Kingdom, Edo State, can the Bureau write such letter to the Oba of Benin, For me, that act is disrespectful to His Royal Highness and the traditional stool of Obi Mbieri Autonomous Community”.
Also, “nobody could also believe that the Bureau would embark on such official visit to the palace of His Royal Highness without any formal letter or communication of any kind notifying His Royal Highness of their visit. It pains me that the Bureau went on such newspaper publications to create the impression that His Royal Highness is ignoring them and purposefully avoided them the day they came to the palace when they never notified His Royal Highness of their coming. For me, it is embarrassing and most unfortunate”.
“Looking at the said publication, the Bureau has already formed an opinion about His Royal Highness when they have not heard from the said monarch. I advise the Bureau to rather appear in court to seek for the leave of the court to empower them to settle the matter and not making provoking and derogatory publications which will aggravate the matter to worst than good. For me, I see the conduct of the Bureau as a calculated attempt to seek for cheap popularity but I assure them that such will be resisted by us as His Royal Highness remains a peaceful man and one of the respected first-class Traditional Rulers in Imo State whose love for his family members and members of his community at large knows no bound” Barr Nwaopara concluded.
