The Special Assistant (SA) to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ruby Emele (Mrs) has expressed the intention of Governor Hope Uzodimma in building strong institutions that will guarantee sustainable development in the state via his shared prosperity government.
The former ALGON Chairperson disclosed this Thursday, September 10, while interacting with editors of Imo based newspapers that paid her a courtesy call in her office at the State Secretariat, Port Harcourt road. She stated that the governor liberated Imolites by creating an enabling environment that has given all and sundry a sense of belonging.
Emele decried the emergency created by the COVID-19 pandemic since Uzodimma assumed office both to the health of citizens, the economy of Imo, Nigeria, and the world at large. However, she pointed out that the governor in his proactive nature was able to contain the situation by providing the necessary facilities, personnel, and adequate sensitization, especially in rural areas.
The SA explained that Uzodimma is working tirelessly in building strong institutions that would in turn guarantee sustainable development.
She pointed out that, “building a strong system cum institutions that would deliver the dividends of democracy to Imolites as against building strong individuals or politicians is the fulcrum of the shared prosperity government.”
“It is on this premise that the governor is highly committed to improving and
providing infrastructural development such as massive road construction, security outfit – “Operation Search and Flush” also in LGAs, mobile clinics/ ambulances to aid medical care delivery, distribution of fertilizers to farmers for free, among others within a short time.”
The former ALGON Chair explained that the Shared Prosperity government is working assiduously to resuscitate all moribund public utility facilities and parastatals. This, she said the governor has exhibited in the continuation of abandon and ongoing projects before the shared prosperity government came on board.
“The IMCs when they assumed office met dilapidated offices and facilities, but they have worked very hard to make the local government headquarters conducive to carry out their duties.
Emele assured that the 3R mantra of Governor Uzodimma is ever determined to create an enabling environment through infrastructural development that would attract investors to Imo thereby providing jobs to the unemployed, and improved IGR in the state.
She, therefore, called on Imolites to support the 3R administration of Governor Uzodimma, just as she enjoined the editors to avail the public of the right information. This she said would make the public understand that the Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Recovery of the past glory of Imo is a collective responsibility.
