Egbuoma Community in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State has petitioned Governor Hope Uzodimma over alleged incessant fraud in the palace of their traditional ruler, His Royal Majesty Eze Ezeanogbuomba Okorie Ogbuehi.
According to the letter signed by the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Egbuoma Progressive Union, Mr. Linus C. Chinyerenwa, Interim Management Committee Member, Oguta, Hon. Comrade Uchenna Chukwudi (Iyi Due Process), APC Chairman of Egwe/Egbuoma Ward and Egbuoma Progressive Union Caretaker Committee Secretary, Sir Linus C. Odimegwu,”it is currently a standard rule that in the Eze Egbuoma’s Palace that each land dispute to be settled attracts fine of one live he-goat, one carton of stout beer, one bottle of lord’s dry gin and the sum of eighty thousand naira only (#80,000.00) from each party.” After then the secret bribery continues. Funny enough, no party will win the case, at worst; the cabinet will recommend oath taking for both parties.
The petition alleged that the person behind the shoddy deal is one Nze Oliver Ogbuehi who is overseeing the affairs of the community since Eze Ezeanogbuomba Okorie Ogbuehi become incapacitated due to age and sickness which halted his appearance in the public and hardly represent the interest of the community any more.
It also alleged that the Eze in Council is deeply rooted in the People’s Democratic Party,PDP and has been trying to turn Egbuoma and traditional institution into PDP affairs.
“Nze Oliver Ogbuehi’s attempt to bribe the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Egbuoma Progressive Union with the sum of five hundred thousand naira (#500,000.00) for him to support his office failed. He recommended people with questionable characters for chieftaincy titles which almost throw the community into deep crisis. We are calling on Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State to come to our aid so as to avert this looming danger in our community”, the letter further read.
