Araraume ‘caged ’

· May stop Uzodimma’s consensus arrangement with court

· Nwafor-led faction warns aspirants against dealing with Nlemigbo

Emerging facts indicate that all may not be well with the consensus arrangement of Governor Hope Uzodimma to pick the party’s candidate for the Okigwe Senatorial contest billed for October 31st.
This is consequent on the exclusion of some big wigs and influential persons in the party. It was gathered by Edge Express that two times Senator, Godwin Ifeanyichukwu Araraume was not part of the consensus arrangement as he was sidelined.
Araraume sources indicate is not a person to push away on issues like this as he is likely to seek a pound of flesh from his detractors. It was gathered that he may exercise the option of the court to stop the arrangement.
Reportedly, again since he had earlier secured his waiver from Abuja to run, he is not likely to abandon such recognition. “No one can cow him or push him away like that because he is a dogged fighter who takes no nonsense,” so disclosed by one of his aides,
Last weekend Governor Hope Uzodinma set up a nine man Committee to screen and produce a consensus candidate for the election. Feelers indicate that a six month Senator Athan Achonu may likely clinch the ticket to enable him complete his unfinished tenure.
The series of meetings he has had with Tony Chukwu, a business mogul and power broker in the state as well as the governor, coupled with the with the nod given to him by the state Party Chairman, Marcon Nlemigbo in form of positive compliments, further gives him out as the preferred candidate.
It is widely known that Araraume whenever he is aggrieved especially on election matters does not spare the use of courts to drive home his grievances. This may not be any different. It will be recalled that he was one of the challengers of Gov. Emeka Ihedioha’s victory in the last election.
APC is going into the contest as a ragtag team what with all its internal wrangling. Barr Marcellinus Nlemigbo and Hon. Dan Nwafor are at daggers drawn over the chairmanship of the party in the state and it is believed this may affect the electoral fortunes of the party.
However it is looked at, the Okigwe Senatorial election is significant for a reason to the party. It will help to resolve the contest of who is in charge because it is only the rightful chairman that will endorse the candidate of the party.
While Nlemigbo has been exercising the functions of the party chairman, attending meetings at the national level, Nwafor claims that the court rulings recognize him as the authentic chairman.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Rochas Okorocha_ backed All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Daniel Madueke Nwafor has dissociated himself and Imo APC from all arrangements said to be embarked upon by the Hope Uzodimma backed APC, led by Prince Marcellinus Nlemigbo to produce a candidate of the party for the October 31st Okigwe Senatorial rerun.
In a release signed by the faction’s Publicity Secretary, Mr Jones Onwuasoanya, the Daniel Nwafor_led APC warned aspirants to avoid having anything to do with the Nlemigbo led APC, saying that Prince Nlemigbo had no authority to produce candidates for any election for APC in the state and that they risked having their nomination voided if they failed to heed his warning.
According to the release, only registered members with his authentic ward leadership according to the July 20, 2018 would be eligible to contest on APC platform.
It also said that the only authentic and recognized officials of APC in the state are those under the Chairmanship of Hon. Daniel Nwafor, adding that only members who are up to date in payment of party subscriptions, dues, and levies would be deemed eligible to contest.
The release also distanced Daniel Nwafor from any committee allegedly set up by Nlemigbo led faction, saying that neither the state working committee nor the state executive committee; two organs with the responsibility to organize and take the final decision on behalf of the party has set up committees for any purpose relating to the Okigwe Senatorial rerun.
The release also expressed the determination of the party to avoid anything that could bring the APC into legal entanglements that could rob them of their mandate after election, hence their close correspondence with their national caretaker committee to properly guide and advise them on all issues.
The aspirants are also urged to intensify grassroot mobilization of members to make the party popular.
