Panic in Uzodimma’s camp as Appeal Court stops de-registration of RAP

Mr. kingdom Okere

Mixed reactions and feelings have followed the Friday, August 7 ruling of the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, the federal capital territory, which has quashed the earlier ruling of an Abuja High Court that upheld the de-registration of the Reform and Advancement Party (RAP) and 73 others by INEC.
It will be recalled that the governorship candidate of the Reform and Advancement Party (RAP), Mr. Kingdom Okere and his party had earlier approached a High Court in Abuja challenging their de-registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), but unfortunately the High Court had upheld the INEC position, promoting Mr. kingdom Okere and his party to appeal against the judgment.
However, with the latest development, those on the side of moves to remove Governor Hope Uzodimma from office have been jubilating over the Appeal Court judgment, saying that the move to remove Uzodimma had been brought back on track.
On the other hand, there seems to be palpable panic within the camp of Governor Uzodimma who had earlier celebrated the de-registration of RAP, describing it as victory for Uzodimma and a sign that the governor had finally won the battle against his political opponents.
This development has definitely re-ignited battle for who ultimately occupies Douglas House, Owerri, as the Reform and Advancement Party(RAP) had approached an Abuja High Court presided by Hon. Justice Abang Okon seeking a judicial interpretation of the Supreme Court judgment of January 14 which had declared Senator Hope Uzodimma as the APC governor-elect even though the same Supreme Court had earlier in December upheld the tribunal and Appeal Court ruling that Chief Uche Nwosu was the duly nominated candidate of both the APC and AA in the 2019 governorship election, hence his disqualification. RAP is asking the court to state the point at which Senator Hope Uzodimma became a candidate in the 2019 governorship election since Chief Uche Nwosu had been declared as being the nominated candidate of both APC and AA.This means that APC had no candidate as its nominated candidate, Uche Nwosu has been disqualified.
