Anglican Church gets new parish at Nwaorieubi

It was celebration galore last Sunday as the Anglican Bishop of Owerri, Rt. Rev. Chukwuma Oparah, Ph.D, JP, inaugurated Nwaorieubu Parish.
The Bishop, who was accompanied on the Episcopal visit by his wife, Mrs. Chidiebere Oparah, also inducted the first Parish Priest of the new Parish, rev. Canon Emmanuel Achinebiri alongside his wife, Mrs. Uloma Achinebiri.
The inauguration and induction ceremony took place during an inauguration service held at the Parish Headquarters, Christ Anglican Church, Nwaorieubi in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.
Performing the ceremony, Bishop Oparah, who expressed optimism that the parish will grow high, also charged all the stations in the Parish to work in harmony for kingdom expansion, stressing that the parish was inaugurated primarily for the spread of the gospel.
He also charged them to work towards the dedication of the church and to take good care of the priest and his wife.
In his sermon, Rev. Canon Joseph Igbo urged the people of Nwaorieubi not to relax but to see the inauguration of the Parish as a starting point to take the gospel to all nooks and crannies of the area.
Preaching on the topic, “Go ye into the world and make disciples of all nations”, he warned against envy, gossip and enmity, which he said, will not help the church, but to embark on house fellowship, visitation as well as to support the Vicar. He advised other church workers in the parish to serve God with both their wealth and strength.
The service was conducted by Ven. James Onyekwelibe while the only lesson from Acts 13:1-5 was read by the Vicars’ wife, Mrs. Uloma Achinebiri.
The service also featured Anthem by the choir, special song by the Anglican Children Ministry (ACM), cutting of the Inauguration cake as well as merit award to some deserving personalities, including Ven. Simeon Duruji of Christ Church Owerri.
Speaking after the service, the Chairman of the Inauguration Planning Committee, Comrade Okechukwu Okoronkwo expressed satisfaction having successfully executed the task despite the challenges. He thanked the Bishop and expressed hope that the new parish will grow.
In his vote of thanks, the Administrator of Achii Mbieri Archdeaconry, Rev. Canon Benjamin Nwandikom thanked Bishop Oparah and his wife for the Episcopal visit as well as their love, the Archdeaconry and prayed for God’s increased blessings on them.
