CPC partners Darling FM on awareness creation

The Consumer Protection Council (CPC), Imo State Chapter has been assured by the management of Darling FM radio station of cooperation in the ongoing efforts of the Consumer Rights watchdog in sensitizing consumers of their rights and in protecting them from the unscrupulous activities of some producers of goods and services.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to Darling FM radio station, Owerri, on August 5, 2020, the Director General of Consumer Protection Council, Imo State, Mrs. Obioma Okafor appreciated the broadcasting outfit for granting their requesting for a visit.
Mrs. Okafor informed that the essence of their visit was to seek cooperation in information dissemination of the activities of CPC in the state, adding that on assumption of office in April, she had discovered that the agency was scarcely known despite having existed in the state for 16 years.
She stated that in the efforts to re-position CPC, collaboration and working relationships with sister agencies like NAFDAC, SON, NERC, etc., had been established and that the agency had taken their sensitization campaigns to all super markets in Owerri and held meetings with stakeholders such as IPMAN, BAKERS Association, Grain Dealers Association, etc., on the need to safeguard lives of Imolites.
The CPC Director General lamented that the state had become a dumping ground for fake and adulterated goods, prompting her to set up an efficient surveillance and enforcement unit to track down those behind them.
The CPC boss thanked Governor Hope Uzodimma for demonstrating strong political will through his 3R agenda of Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Recovery which had helped relocate Imo CPC from a dilapidated complex to a befitting office complex.
Mrs. Okafor maintained that the CPC under her watch has been waging war against all products injurious to health, noting that a dissatisfied consumer was entitled to the 3R of Repair, Replacement or Refund
Responding, the Station Manager of Darling FM, Mr. Zandas Okereke assured Mrs. Obioma Okafor of the support and cooperation of his broadcasting outfit in the sensitization effort.
He congratulated Mrs. Okafor for her efforts in re-positioning the CPC in line with its mandate fulfillment.
