Touched by the plight of the people of Imo North Senatorial District otherwise known as Okigwe Zone who have suffered staggering representation, Sir Frank Ibezim who served as the Director-General of Buhari Presidential Campaign Organization in Imo State has joined the race for the Senatorial bye-election as he promised to change the bitter narratives of the people.
Ibezim, a popular Ehime Mbano-born politician and a Public Administrator of note made his intention to contest the primaries of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to become it’s candidate in the coming bye-election at the Imo State Secretariat of the party in Owerri earlier this week when he declared officially before the leadership of the party.
In his address, he paid tribute to the late Sen. Ben Uwajumogu who he described as a good friend and brother, saying: “Sen. Ben and i shared same vision and passion, his unfortunate demise continues to be a source of deep anguish and sorrow to me.”
He lamented that apart from being the smallest and most disadvantaged zone in Imo State, Okigwe have had the lowest representation since eight years as he disclosed that he joined the Senatorial race to continue diligently in the mission of putting the people and their interest first over self and pecuniary considerations, to push the frontiers of democratic dividends to reach the nook and cranny of every village hamlet and ensure the utilization of the vast untapped land resources for unparalleled agricultural and industrial revolution.
Ibezim disclosed that his interest is promoting and unleashing the potentials of the people as well as creating opportunities for necessary skills acquisition for the youths through technical and vocational training.
Ibezim who has served as a Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources in Imo State reiterated that: “I pledge to accomplish this through the pursuit of quality representation for our people. The people of Okigwe Senatorial Zone have suffered a lot of setbacks due to staggering representations in the 8th and 9th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and I am offering myself to serve, make the sacrifice and apply competence, capacity and strategic actions to make legislations that will change the bitter narratives of our people “.
Continuing, he submitted in his own words that: “Intrinsic in all these is following in the lofty footsteps laid by His Excellency Gov. Hope Uzodimma-led government in putting value to opening up socio-economic frontiers for our people, removing them from abject poverty to wealth creation, from the ravages of unemployment to becoming employers of labour and from hopelessness to a hopeful generation built on shared interest and benefits “.
He revealed that he has a clear understanding of the challenges of the people of Imo North and the best approach to proffer the right solutions as he further informed the party leaders that he is a devoted Christian who has keenly participated in numerous community development projects including the construction of roads, installation of street lights and other religious projects as he stated that: “My vision and mission is to provide competent, capable and compassionate leadership that will not only sustain but surpass the democratic dividends ever enjoyed in the zone.” I have a sense of the needs of the people from my varied experience in the political and economic activities even from the grassroots and I can assure you that I will make the party proud by giving an excellent representation”.
In his response, Chief Marcellinus Nlemigbo, the Imo State Chairman of APC described the aspirant as an intelligent man who has the qualities and clear understanding of what he is going for.
He observed that Sir Frank Ibezim is among the intending Federal Lawmakers whose blueprints will drive Okigwe Senatorial Zone to her desired destination as he revealed that Gov.
