Irete youths, police to partner on development

Youths of Irete autonomous community under the umbrella of Irete Youths Association(IYA) have pledged their readiness to partner with the Ogbaku divisional police headquarters in their effort to sanitize Irete community and make it a place conducive for all to live and conduct their business activities and private lives.
This declaration was made yesterday during a courtesy visit to the Divisional Police Officer(DPO) of Ogbaku Divisional Police by leaders and some members of Irete Youth Association led by Mr Emmanuel Akuebionwu who were introduced by the counselor representing Irete/Orogwe (ward 10),Hon. Obinna Duru.
Speaking during the courtesy visit,Hon. Obinna Duru informed theDPO,Mr Obinna Ugwu Agbo that the essence of the visit was to introduce the new leaders of Irete Youths Association to him as Irete Community, by security, falls under Ogbaku Police Division.
Hon. Duru used the occasion to acquaint the DPO of his plans as the councilor representing Irete/Orogwe (ward 10) to introduce measures to keep his ward clean and control traffic at necessary spots to save lives as some drivers resort to drive contrary to traffic rules.
The counsellor also told the DPO that the only umbrella of the entire Irete Youths is the Irete Youths Association which has one president in the person of Mr Emmanuel Chibuzo Akuebionwu and the chapter chairmen are all under him.
In his remark, the President of Irete Youth Association, Mr Emmanuel Chibuzo Akuebionwu pledged that Irete youths would work with the Divisional Police Headquarters in all areas to make the community a decent place for all to live.
Responding, the DPO of Ogbaku Divisional Police Headquarters ,Mr Obinna Ugwu Agbo thanked the youth leaders for their courtesy visit and pledged to always consult and work with them as well as all stakeholders of the community to achieve peace and progress.
Advising the youths to work within the ambits of the law, the DPO noted that his division needed the partnership of the youths to achieve meaningful results.
He urged them to be ready to partner with the division to flush out criminal elements within their location, warning them to be careful of being hijacked by politicians who do not have their interest at heart.
Mr Agbo advised the youths to inform the police of any arrest and refrain from beating anyone or taking the law into their hands in any way, but rather to hand offenders to the police for subsequent prosecution.
The police boss went on to lecture the youths on morales and leadersip, stressing that leadership needed sacrifice and trust without which no leader has the right to lead.
