The Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Project Monitoring, Hon. Nze Eddy Olewuike, has assured Imo people that with his achievements in less than six months, the governor has demonstrated that he is visionary and has come to serve them to the best of his ability.
Addressing a section of the press at the weekend in Owerri, Nze Olewuike, a former Special Adviser to a former minority leader in the Imo State House of Assembly, Barr
(Mrs) Pat Ekeji and a former executive Chairman of Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area, Hon. Dr Iyke Njoku, contended that although Governor Uzodimma did not go through a transition period nor properly handed over to, because of the experience he had garnered over the years, has done well considering the giant strides he has recorded so far.
According to him “Governor Uzodimma promised Imo People that it won’t be business as usual. And that is what he is doing in the state. Realizing that government is a continuum, he continued to implement programmes and projects initiated by his predecessor which are adding value to Imo people’s lives. Remember, the governor came in at a time the state was almost on a standstill, particularly because of the Covid-19 pandemic
“It will take a man of Governor Uzodimma’s courage to stop the pension and gratuity of former governors, their deputies, Speakers of the Assembly and their deputies, and former Traditional Rulers Council Chairmen. By repealing the law, it shows he has conscience. Check out the massive road construction and other ongoing infrastructural development in the state and you will agree with me that he has come to serve”
Nze Olewuike, a grassroots mobilizer who expressed the confidence to live up to the expectations of the governor and Imo people said, “The portfolio assigned to me has a lot because of the rot or decay and corruption in the construction industry. But I have the capacity, courage and strength to excel. My job consists among other things, of the monitoring and supervision of ongoing projects, ensuring that they are done according to specification and reporting to the governor. As I said before, I will not let him down. “
While enjoining Imo people to give Governor Uzodimma, an unflinching and unalloyed support to actualize his dream for the state, he added, “The delay in the payment of salaries and pension is deliberate, because he wants to get rid of the corruption in the system. We should all him, sacrifice a little now, so as to gain a who lot later, “he stressed.
