Imo state government set to revitalize NSU ceramics industry

In line with the Shared Prosperity government of Sen. Hope Uzodimma, which is anchored on Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery, the long abandoned NSU ceramic Industries and General Hospital at Ehime Mbano, will bounce back to life in no distant time.
This was revealed by the Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on National Assembly Matters/ Ecological Project and former member of the National Assembly, representing Okigwe South Federal Constituency, Hon Austin Nwachukwu.
The special adviser who bared his minds on his resolve to use his weight of experience as a former federal house member to bring federal presence into the state, disclosed that the state government through the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon. Kingsley Ononuju, has taken a tour to the long abandoned project in accordance with the direction of the governor.
He regretted that previous governments did not make any efforts to ensure that this beautiful projects, instituted by late Dee Sam Onunaka Mbakwe were not revived, adding that the past administration under Rochas Okorocha had removed most of the equipment that were kept there for the construction of the factory, pointing out that if the factory had been put in place, it would generate a huge amount to boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state.
Hon. Austine who insisted that the ceramics is a popular product in every household today, disclosed, that the late Sam Mbakwe instituted the factory in the year 1982 in NSU, Ehime Mbano LGA of Imo State, noting that the AGBAGHARA NSU has the largest ceramic clay deposit which is one of the key components and raw materials for the production of ceramics.
Describing NSU as a major political block in Ehime Mbano, the Special Adviser expressed hope that the present administration will not only revive the ceramics industry but will also rehabilitate the NSU General Hospital which according to him, is of great importance to people of that area.
Hon. Nwachukwu who expressed hope that the two industries will come back to life, assured the people that he will work in synergy with Imo sons and daughters at both the Senate and the Federal House of Representatives, to ensure that there is a lot of Federal presence. He explained that the federal government does not just come to a state to execute project, rather before any project is given, it has to be projected by the people of that state and included in the national budget.
