Group allegedly sponsored by the Special Adviser to Imo state governor, on Agricultural Loan, Chief Sam Osuji and the current serving Interim Management Committee Chairman of Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of the State, Hon. Chika Okoroike recently demolished buildings in the government owned popular Orie Amaraku International Market.
Grapevine sources has it that the demolition is not farfetched from the utmost interest of the two government appointees from Isiala Mbano LGA, Chief Osuji and Hon. Okoroike who want not only to control the market, but to acquire multiple buildings and shops at the detriment of the original shop owners.
Speaking to our correspondent who visited the market, the President General of Amaraku Amaise Community, Chief Aloysius Chigozie Oduba disclosed that Imo State Government had earlier introduced the Market Developer and Chief Executive Officer of Gravill Hotels&Resorts Ent. (Civil Engineering Department), Chief Roland Orisakwe to handle structural construction of Orie Amaraku International Market since 2017. Chief Oduba informed that the developer have completed the first phase of the project and handed over accordingly to the traders. He recounted that the immediate past administration in Imo State led by Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha retained and gave nod to the services of Chief Orisakwe due to the level of work already done in the market wondering why Chief Osuji and Okoroike just woke up and sent hoodlums to demolish buildings worth hundreds of million naira in Market. “I have known Chief Roland Orisakwe as the developer of our Market since 2017. I am speaking on behalf of the entire people and stakeholders of Amaraku. Government should come to our aide before it is late. Government should also call Osuji and Okoroike to order. Both Government’s agents, Chief Orisakwe and Amaraku people reached a comprehensive MoU before the project kick started. We went round the market and mapped out strategic location for the motor park and other areas which will be completed soon. Chief Orisakwe has started the second phase of the project. It is therefore annoying that Osuji and Okoroike should hide under the present administration in Imo State led by Senator Hope Uzodimma to query who authorized Orisakwe to embark upon the construction of the International Market without considering the fact that government is a continuum. They brought in hoodlums and demolished the buildings in the market. They threatened to kill us. The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon. Barr. Kingsley Ononuju has intervened, but they were deft. There is already streamlined action plans for which this market ought to be constructed”, the Community Leader concluded.
