Shun deceit, lies, Ejim urges Uzodinma

Hope Uzodinma

By FRANCIS Okpoko

The State governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma has been admonished to champion people oriented administration that will be solidly built on truth, transparency and accountability as it is the pathway to win the people’s heart and build a reputation that will be extremely difficult for the opposition to destroy.

An illustrious son of Owerri Municipal Chief, Anthony Ejim gave the advice during a media chat in Owerri.  He said what one should avoid in any administration is deceit, making people to know that you are lying is not good.

His words ‘we were told all workers have been paid while it is not true, we were also told that pump is running everywhere in Imo State, but it is not true.”

Chief Ejim noted that emergence of Uzodinma as Governor, may have been influenced by some forces in Abuja the Federal Capital Territory, but insists the onus is on him to work for Imo people and singled himself out with quality service delivery that will change every wrong impression about him.

He called on Governor Uzodinma to feel the pulse of Imo people, and added that “as a leader when Imo people are crying, he should be crying, when Imo people are happy, he should be happy, is not good for him to be in Abuja relaxing while his people are crying here in Imo State, it shows a very bad way of leadership”

Speaking on the arrest of Mr. Ambruse Nwogwugwu, he admonished Governor, Uzodinma to emulate the spirit of tolerance exhibited by former Governor, Rochas Okorocha, whom he described as the most abused, ridiculed and cajoled governor in recent past, but never arrested or imprisoned anybody.

On the allegation about Almajiri trooping into in Imo and other states in South East and South South, he raised alarm that if preventive measures and proactive actions were not taken, it will be disastrous.

He cautioned the indigenes of northern Nigeria to consider the peace and unity of the country and stop creating things that could jeopardize harmonious living in the country.

On the state of affairs in Nigeria, he described the country as one close to a failed state, insist that all the indices of a failed state are all there, nobody will say we are not almost a failed state, if a tribe will dominate the security architecture of the country, is totally bad and condemnable. How can Almajiri migrate from Maiduguri to South East?  how many states did they pass?, what did security agents did to stop them? All these things are not good let us make this country work to again’. Looking at what happened at the killing of Black America in the USA, he expressed deep concern that racism became more pronounced under President Donald Trump, Chief Ejim recalled the arrest of CNN reporter just because she is a black America and asked what of a black lady who was shot dead while she was sleeping? He concluded that the examples are many and it was not like that during the era of Barack Obama.
