ISCA distributes free face masks to Imolites

By Eze Amaeshi The Imo State Congress of America (ISCA), the umbrella body of all organizations of people of Imo State extraction living in America and Canada on Wednesday, June 3, demonstrated their love and concern for the wellbeing of Imolites by donating over 10000 face masks to assist the state government in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Speaking during the event which took place at the premises of Owerri Municipal Council, the local Representative of ISCA in Nigeria, Lady Isabella Asinobi expressed her joy at the intervention of the group in complementing the efforts of the state government in the war against the coronavirus pandemic. She noted that the 27 LGA coordinators of ISCA who were present would share the masks in their various LGAs and hoped that the effort and other measures being promoted by the government and the NCDC would go a long way in controlling the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. She called on everyone to assist the state government in the effort to keep the state safe from coronavirus, adding that ISCA would ensure that the face masks are shared among the communities, in addition to sensitizing them on the control measures of the coronavirus. The special Assistant to the governor on Diaspora Affairs, Mrs Cecilia Osakwe stated that the face masks would be distributed from house to house in all the 27 LGAs. She added that Imo being one of the states with one of the lowest COVID-19 infections could be traced to the efforts of the state government to keep Imo State safe. She urged all diaspora organizations to key into the policies of the present administration to make Imo better. The President of the Imo State Congress of America (ISCA), world wide, Chief Sampson Udeh, whose address was read by the Nigerian Local Representative, Lady Isabella Asinobi, informed that the group is a non-political, non-partisan umbrella body of all Imo State organizations in the USA and Canada. He added that ISCA structure comprised local ambassadors, youth, women and Journalists from all the 27 LGAs. Chief Udeh also noted that ISCA seeks to promote and coordinate local and international cooperations in the areas of economic development and has members who are investors with a world wide reach. The ISCA boss applauded Governor Hope Uzodinma for his efforts against COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier in his opening remark, the IMC Chairman of Owerri Municipal Council, Chief Ambrose Nkwodinma thanked ISCA for starting their free face mask distribution in Owerri Municipal, saying that it would greatly complement the efforts of Owerri Municipal Council in the fight against COVID-19 as they do it in all 27 LGAs. Nkwodinma urged them to inform people of other measures in the fight against coronavirus such as hand washing, especially after touching money.
