The Magistrate Court sitting in Owerri, the capital city of Imo State on Monday has summoned the President General of Isiozi-Akah Autonomous Community, Mr. Ifeanyi Iwuchukwu to appear before the court on Friday 5th June, 2020 over his involvement in peddling false information.
This summon emanated from the absent of Mr. Ifeanyi Iwuchiukwu and his counsel who were earlier served notice.
Meanwhile, the presiding Magistrate said it is difficult to issue bench warrant against the defendant since she does not know him in person assuring that the Court will do nothing than to bring forth his surety after the adjourned date.
Earlier, CSP Thaddeus Okey of Legal/Prosecution Unit of Imo State Police Headquarters, Owerri told the Court that the defendant was duly served expressing worry that both Mr. Ifeanyi Iwuchukwu and his counsel were absent.
According to the Count Charges No.Ow/204….c/2020;Commissioner of Police as Complainant VS Ifeanyi Iwuchukwu ‘m’ aged 58yrs as Accused person which was signed by CSP Okey,”that you Ifeanyi Iwuchukwu on or about April, 2020 at Isiozi-Akah Autonomous Community triable in Owerri Magistrate District, did with intent to defraud, falsely represent yourself as a qualified engineer and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 484 of the Criminal Code “C38”, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004,as applicable in Imo State.
Count2: that you,Ifeanyi Iwuchukwu on or April,2020 at Isiozi-Akah Autonomous Community conspired with others now at large to commit misdemeanor to wit: conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
Count3: that you,Ifeanyi Iwuchukwu and others now at large on or April, 2020 at Isiozi-Akah Autonomous Community conducted yourself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by falsely publishing that there is no Eze in your community.
Count4: that you,Ifeanyi Iwuchukwu conspired with others now at large to commit misdemeanor to wit; provoking breach of peace.
Count5: that you,Ifeanyi Iwuchukwu circulated offensive publication through radio wireless and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 84A(b) of the Criminal Code Cap.” C38″, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004,as applicable in Imo State .”
