A frontline Nollywood film maker, cum actor Simon Chibuzo Emelu, popularly known as “Pressing Forward” movie, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in his Ebenato Ekwe ward, in Isu Local Government Area of Imo state.
The declaration event which was held on Sunday, May 17, 2020, was witnessed by the Interim Management Committee chairman of Isu LGA, Hon. Kenneth Uka the APC chairman of Isu LGA, Hon. Lilian Obim, CampHope Woman Leader, Lolo Patricia Chukwujiwu, Ekwe Ward 2 Chairman, Hon. Charles Ibekwe, Ekwe ward 2 Youth Leader, Mr. Ononiwu Macdonald, among other APC faithfuls.
Also, in attendance were Nollywood community led by the former chairman of Imo Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Amb. Nneoma Ukpabi, SA to the Anambra State Governor, Zubby Micheal former treasurer of Imo AGN, Johnbosco Iwu among others.
Addressing the audience at the event Chief Emelu, noted his passion for developing Imo and support the good work of the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma motivated him to be identified as a member of APC.
He said Gov. Uzodinma, within a short period, has transformed Imo with road and other meaningful projects, calling on Imolites to support his administration.
In their separate speeches, the party leaders who were elated with the development, described Chief Emelu as a role model who has contributed immensely to the success stories of the APC in his ward and the LGA and assured that with him in the LGA, the party is well positioned for future victories.
Also speaking, the former Chairman of AGN, Amb. Nneoma Ukpabi recounted how Chief Emelu changed movie narrative when he broke the monopoly by single-handedly bringing filmmaking to Imo. According to her, film making was mainly done in Lagos, Asaba and Enugu area, before Chief Emelu changed the narrative.
