More than fifty members of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Enyiogugu, Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area, led by Duru Robert Ohakwe, on Sunday defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Speaking on the occasion, the ward chairman of the party and Councillor representing Enyiogugu ward at the council, Chief Emmanuel Nwagbaraji, expressed happiness on their decision to join the party which he described as a moving train, and assured them that they will be carried along in the scheme of things.
Chief Nwagbaraji, while urging them to abide by the rules guiding the party, was emphatic that loyalty is always rewarded.
He used the opportunity to commend Governor Hope Uzodinma, for his developmental strides in the state, as well as, the appointment of their sons
and daughter into his government and called on
Imo people to support him so that he can actual ise his vision of a better state.
Earlier in his speech, Duru Ohakwe, on behalf of others said their decision to join the party was because of the caliber and integrity of its members, adding that Governor Hope Uzodinma, had within his first hundred days in office shown that he has what it takes to move the state forward.
He assured them of their loyalty and support to the party, promising to use their contacts to ensure the victory of the party in the area in subsequent elections. Others who spoke on the occasion include the a supervisory councillor in Aboh Mbaise local government council, from Enyiogugu Chief Mrs Fidelia Nnawuihe, Hon. Everest Ashimole, Special Assistant to the Aboh Mbaise Transition Committee chairman, among others who harped on the need for everyone to work hard so that they will have a strong and united party.
